SURS Board Election

To all SUAA Retirees! There is currently a SURS Board of Trustees election in progress to elect a person to fill an expired term to represent the retirees. The two candidates are Fred Giertz and Mitch Vogel. Both gentlemen are members of SUAA. It has been requested that SUAA send out additional information. Information on each candidate is attached.

The election began on April 1 and will end on May 1. SUAA is encouraging all retirees to participate in this election. There are several options for voting – email, call-in and a mail-in ballot. Please visit the SURS website for additional information.

Currently Mitch Vogel and John Engstrom hold seats on the SURS Board of Trustees representing the retirees/annuitants. As you will read or have read, Fred Giertz has SURS BOT experience as he spent several years on the Board while he was employed. Mitch’s term is expiring.

This is not an endorsement of either candidate. It is an attempt to make sure everyone is participating in the election.

There are also two candidates for the expired term for current employees or contributing members.

Mr. Aaron Ammons, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Mr. Antonio Vasquez, City Colleges of Chicago and a member of SUAA. Tony is currently serving on the SURS Board of Trustees.
